Les Bizarrables |
The Twelve Chairs: ProverbsA chair in the road is yesterday's grandmother. A broken chair returns home to the joy of its maker. A chair with no legs is no soup for dogs. Talk about chairs and your sausage will rot. You do not need to travel; a chair rung knows all footpaths. A chair in the well is a passing cloud, but two chairs in the well and your baby will stutter. A chair with no shoes is a worker's reward. The tortoise and the chair are wise companions for the dictionary. A mouse that ignores chairs can climb a ladder. A chair on the roof tells no secrets. Telling a tired chair the time is happiness to third wives. A chair with spaghetti sheds no tears. |
